I was a multi-sport varsity athlete in high school. I received all-conference honors, named the team captain each year, and selected to the All-Decade team for Marin County.

From that success, I took a scholarship to play defensive end at UC Davis. My tenure finished with Defensive Player of the Year, team captain, and voted as All-Conference.

What these accomplishments don’t highlight is the amount of work, effort, and struggle getting there. What if I told you coaches were always switching my position, didn’t start until my Junior year of college, overcame self-doubt, and avoided significant injuries (for the most part) my entire athletic career.
How did this all happen? I was obsessed with the craft and getting better. If there was a way to get stronger (naturally), improve my technique, accelerate my recovery, I did it. I understood my body was a machine and I was the engineer. I could tinker and optimize to how I saw fit.
My accomplishments and awards mean relatively little at this point — except the resultant life-long friends and extended family of athletes. But what has lasted within? The coached importance of a “team” and support base, and the continuing desire and determination to excel and get better at everything I do.

Inspired by an innovative community, books, and podcasts, I have discovered you don’t have to be an athlete to optimize your health and longevity to create a more balanced lifestyle in your every day – a workday warrior.
Therefore, I created this blog to share my passion for health to those who are interested in enhancing their own routines. Not everyone has a coach, trainer, or mentor, so I hope this can be a guide for those need it.
